FOOD AWARENESS – CHECK THE LABELS

FOOD AWARENESS – CHECK THE LABELS

Here is an example of a very clever labelling and marketing strategy from Lenny & Larry’s complete cookie.

Cleverly marketed and targeting the fitness industry with 16g Protein.

On the back label it says 180 calories which sounds great, but this is actually for 1/2 a cookie.
And who has 1/2 a cookie? So we’re now looking at 360 calories for a full cookie.

Next up is the ingredients, with first being Vegan Wheat flour, (which is fine) and then further along we see Cane Sugar and Pea Protein (lower
quality protein).

Pic at the bottom is a randomly chosen supermarket finest cookie coming in at 281 calories,
and can anyone guess what the first ingredient is?

Yep wheat flour! And then sugar etc etc

So as much as I do enjoy the taste of a Lenny & Larry’s cookie, I could easily pick up a ‘normal’ cookie from the supermarket, add a little yoghurt or whey if I wanted to increase Protein content and would still save money.

Instead you would probably be better off having a regular cookie whilst of course keeping within your goals and calorie ranges 😉

Don’t let the labels and clever packaging fool you.
